A little help here please...

When I was out tonight, I came across this little top in the sale in Sainsburys. It was half price at £8 so I snapped it up.

I've been going against every rule of shopping lately, complete impulse purchases, and cheapy ones at that. This one caught my eye because of the pretty embroidery.

Now it's at home with me safe and sound though, I've noticed a slight problem. It's navy blue. Navy is not one of my colours. I don't own anything else navy or from that colour family (unless you count dark blue denim).

So now I'm completely stuck as to what to wear this with. What goes with navy? Do you have any ideas how I can style this? I'd be grateful for any advice, otherwise it may be doomed and be given back to the shop and boy do I hate doing that. :-(

Only 9 sleeps to go!!!!! And I'm about to go have one of those right now.

Total spent today: £8.

I'm not a navy blue person myself but the blouse is so pretty. What color is the embroidered flowers? Is it white? You can wear this in spring with a white skirt or white pants.

or you can wear it with a lighter wash of denims and wear a brown boots.

I am not a navy girl either and will come back and read others' advice- I bought a little blue vintage blaze thinking I could figure it out! I agree with the jeans ideas though.

Leah is right. If the embroidery is white, it would be lovely come spring paired with white pants or skirt. If the embroidery is cream or off white, then pair with pants or skirt in a similar hue.

And always, this type of boho top is ideal paired with denim!

It is a beautiful top at a great price. I think that you can make this work!

I'm surprised - I always think of navy as such a foolproof neutral! I love navy with denim, white/cream, brown, or even a sunny yellow or pale green (I'm thinking of colors similar to what you often see in Polish pottery or Provencal/French Country fabrics.) I'm not sure whether that helps you out at all, though.

Hi there-I would say go with jeans and in summer pair it with a white skirt or trousers!!

I love navy, it is so useful, it works with grey, camel and denim and makes a brighter change from black which can leave blondes a bit washed out looking. Nice Top too. I'm glad to have found your blog.

Oh it's such a pretty blouse!! If you wanna be matchy, then you could probably pair it with something white! I think to pair it with denims would be the easiest option, they'll look perfect together!

Wear the outfit out soon:)

That top is so beautiful! I'm glad you snatched it up. :) I would wear it with a long white flowing skirt or perhaps a pair of light blue jeans.

Treat navy like black. It really can go with any color. I like navy and green. Navy and orange is a bit of stretch, but I've seen more people pulling it off. Navy with purple is nice all in the berry family. Just go for it!

I agree with Kari on a sunny yellow or pale green - I think navy and dark blues are really versatile, they work with just about anything. I usually pair my navy clothing with pinks, purples and violets. I would wear it with a plum skirt or maybe dark jeans and a pink or violet scarf.
