T'was a lovely idea...

In one of my first ever posts when I started this blog, I mentioned my love of subliminal signs around the house.

Well, today, I bought a cute chalkboard for the kitchen from Candle and Blue, St Johns Street, Bury St Edmunds – so now I can write my own subliminal messages to my family. T'was* £8.99.

I have a romantic idea that it will be used for quaint shopping lists like this...

In real life it is more likely going to be used to hurl abuse, such as this...

Total spent today: £8.99.

* I've been using the word 't'was' an unusual amount today, even on the email to clients. It would seem I've turned into a Charles Dickens character overnight! How untoward!

ps. The people at vouchercodes.co.uk contacted me with some great discount vouchers available from their site. I've listed some of the best ones in the column on the left. It is well worth a look if you are buying anything online or eating out, every little helps!

Watch out. Low flying dinosaurs!

Today I was resigned to the fact that I couldn't leave the house, so had to make do with online shopping and bought this dragonfly door knocker that I had been coveting for some time.

Any true shopaholic will agree that Saturday is by far the best shopping day, but today I was not able to get my fix. Instead I offered to babysit (?).

As well as my usual two, I had my neice and nephew and a straggler from a sleepover the night before (sorry Becky, we love you really, you are just a straggler for the purposes of this story).

A total of 5 children, 3 of which were under 4. I am pooped.

Anyhow, as an expert online shopper I was still able to purchase this gorgeous dragonfly door knocker from candle and blue, St Johns Street, Bury St Edmunds – whilst changing a nappy AND dodging low flying dinosaurs... I'm a multi-tasker.

I'm just waiting for the 'rolled-eyes' look from my other half when it arrives. I think he actually prefers me to buy clothes, household items usually mean some form of input from him and possibly the use of a drill.

Total spent today: £8.95 (plus P&P)

*Fossil records show that dragonflies are some of the most ancient creatures on earth, with an ancestory that spans more than 300 million years.
Dragonflies have almost 360 degree vision (which I could have done with today!).

Shhhssss please...

Today I bought a wooden sign, in a bid to restore some sort of peace and tranquility to our household

I love random signs around the house, generally I just put them up in a surprise fashion. The thing that makes me chuckle is that my family no longer comment on them, they just seem to accept the subliminal messages as normal.

This one was found in my favourite shop candle and blue in St Johns Street, Bury St Edmunds.

My only complaint (and I never complain about candle and blue products) is that it actually isn't working. My house is as manic and noisy* as ever – somehow I think it may take more than a quirky wooden sign to correct that!

Total spent today: £4.95

Weekly total: £68

*Noisy is the name or part of the name of six communes of France
